NSS

which expresses the essence of democratic living, respect towards others and selfless service. Aim of our NSS is to promote National Consciousness and sense of social responsibility, inculcation of discipline and dignity of labour among students and help volunteers to mould their personality.

NSS programmes consist of two major activities, Regular activities and special camping. Students undertake various programmesin the adopted villages, college campus and slum areas after the college hours. Duration of this service is a minimum of 120 hours in each academic year. The special camp programmes are 7/10 days duration and organized in the adopted villages. 50% volunteers are expected to participate in the special camp out of total NSS strength of the unit.

An amount of 225/- per volunteer annum is enmarked for expenditure on regular activities. Under the special camping programmers a provision of RS 450/- per volunteer per camp is made for the special camp. These expenses are provided mainly for boarding, lodging and transport of the volunteers.

• Blood donations camps are organized regularly each  year on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Our college founder Former Rural minister ShriPrabhakarji More. Till today more than 191 units of blood are collected and given to the needy patients. Beside this on occasion of needy patients. Besides regular blood donation camps, whenever any demand from  a hospital is received our NSS volunteers ,immediately rush to donate blood to the needy  as a recognition of this service , our college is now identified as “Blood donor college”. Whenever blood donation camps are organized elsewhere our NSS volunteers have donated blood in those special camps. A list of “blood donors” is made available to the Jankalyan  blood banks to meet any emergency demand for blood.
• As part of national programme our NSS unit has been in the forefront  for creating an awareness against the AIDS .In DECEMBER first week we organize special AIDS awareness programme   and  arrange rallies ,posters, exhibitions, conduct essay competitions  and quiz Programmes our NSS unit in collaboration with National AIDS  control society (NACo), Mumbai  has established a “RED RIBBON CLUB” in the college to  effectively spread the awareness against AIDS. For this activity NACO has provided financial assistance to the college.
• Our NSS unit is also active in disaster management programmes. A group of 95 volunteers of NSS is always ready to meet any eventually like floods, house collapse etc.
• At the time of Ganeshotsav& local MLA and Lokshhaba Election duties have deputed to help the authorities in maintaining law and order and for peaceful conduct  of  various programmes.
• As a part of environmental awarenessprogramme and to prevent  pollution the NSS unit of our college has undertaken to clean Poladpur during gauriganesh festival.  Similarly our NSS volunteers help in maintaining clearness by collecting plastic carry bags from public places and discourage use of plastic bags
• We have also arranged special programmes to eradicate superstitions and social evils. Our NSS activities also include participation in Pulse Polio Programmes, Watershed Management Programmes, Personality Development Programme and any other programme as per needs of the situation.

• Our programme officer DrBhosle P.A. was participated  on  West zone special camp on “Youth for Water Conservation . Jointly organized by NSS cell Higher and technical education, Government of Maharashtra University of Mumbai. NSS cell and R.P.Gogate College of Arts and Science & R.V. Jogalekar College of Commerce  Ratnagiri in Association with charitable trust Mumbai from 26^th December 2010- 2^nd January 2011 A/P- Golap Tal/Dist- Ratnagiri.
• Considering the overall performance and contribution of students during the specified work of 240 hours in two years and one special camp. Volunteers are given NSS certificate from the university ten marks are also given to volunteers in the final degree examination. For this blood donation is expected at least once
