While working in the field of education, we noticed that there was no facility of higher
education available in Poladpur tehsil even after 60 years of Indian Independence. Most of the
students of the area remained deprived of higher education. Higher education was almost
distant dream for the girls of the tehsil. Our sanstha had undertaken a survey of the tehsil and
presented the same in the seminar on Higher Education organized at Mahad in the chief
presence of Ex-Minister Hon Mohan Dharia. We pursued the matter at state and university level
and under the guidance and support of former Rural Development of Maharashtra Hon
Prabhakarji More, SSPM has started Senior College having Arts and Commerce streams on
21st Sept 1998 after the due permission of Maharashtra government. With the mission, " Higher
education for the deprived ones", our college is relentlessly working for the overall development
of the students of Poladpur area which is remote, hilly and rural tehsil of the Konkan region.
Right from the beginning, our management emphasizes on the quality of education and it is a
matter of pride for us that our college has successfully faced NAAC only at the age of 6 years
and got accreditation. With the help of NGOs and philanthropists, we have faced and overcome
the natural calamity of the flood in July 2005 in which we have lost our previous college building
completely. Our management was not only able to rehabilitate our college but also started
Science stream in 2007-08 for the students of the area. We again faced NAAC successfully on
the basis of the performance of our students and teachers in various sports, cultural, research
and extension activities. With the help of highly qualified teaching staff, we are striving hard to
impart our students knowledge and skilled oriented education which can be useful for their
employment. We are very keen to arrange every curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular
activities of the college that can make our students competent to undertake various challenges
of the modern world. I feel proud to inform you that our college has successfully completed the
third cycle of NAAC's accreditation with 2.28 CGPA and recently we have received ISO
certificate.
In the light of NEP 2020 We are committed to make our college Knowledge Resource Centre
not only for the students but also for the people of Poladpur tehsil and nearby area. In the
academic year 22 23 the college has started its first PG course MSc organic chemistry.
This institutional journey of higher academic excellence of our management and college has
reached 25 years and we are celebrating the Silver Jubilee Year of our college.On this
occasion, I offer my best wishes to the students and staff of the college and earnestly request
